This policy explains how WHAT'S A PEDIA! handles information for the free MVP. This service does not currently provide accounts, ranking submission, advertising, or paid features.

Information We Process

The free MVP may process the following information:

  • A session cookie used to run the daily game.
  • Game progress, revealed hints, answer state, score, and timestamps.
  • Local browser settings such as theme preference and daily streak information.
  • Technical access information processed by Cloudflare Pages, Workers, D1, and KV.

How We Use Information

  • To provide the game, resume sessions, and calculate scores.
  • To prevent simple abuse and protect the service from excessive automated access.
  • To diagnose errors, maintain availability, and improve gameplay quality.
  • To show local preferences, such as theme and streak state, on the same browser.

Storage and Retention

Game sessions are designed to expire after approximately 24 hours. Local browser data remains on your device until you clear it or your browser removes it.

The free MVP does not currently create user accounts, store OAuth profile information, or store payment information.

Third-Party Services

WHAT'S A PEDIA! is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process technical access information as part of hosting, security, and delivery.

Game content is based on material from Wikipedia and Wikimedia APIs. Wikipedia-derived content is handled under the license terms described on the Credits page.

Azure OpenAI may be used during offline data preparation to identify mask candidates. It is not called during normal gameplay. OAuth, advertising, analytics beyond Cloudflare, and paid features are not currently enabled.
